Born on Sep 13: Peter Cetera (Chicago)

Peter Paul Cetera (born September 13, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American singer, songwriter, bassist and producer best known for being an original member of the rock band Chicago, before launching a successful solo career. As a solo artist, Cetera has scored five Top 40 singles, including two that reached number 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

"Song For You" failed to chart, as with any other song in their 1980 album Chicago XIV, which was poorly promoted by Columbia Records.  The album only reached #71 in the US, and disappeared quickly.  Chicago also saw a poor attendance in many venues during the supporting tour. Realizing that the relationship had soured considerably, Columbia Records terminated their relationship with Chicago.
