My Home Network Setup (Part 1: Getting them all connected)

I currently use the following computers at home:
  • A Dell Latitute D505 running Ubuntu
  • A 6 year old desktop running Windows XP
  • A Macbook running Snow Leopard
I also have the Brother HL-2040, an excellent budget laser printer. And for external disk storage, I have a Seagate 1TB and a Western Digital 2TB desktop hard drive.
I wanted to setup everything so that I can print and have read and write access to the hard drives from all computers.

The way I did it was by getting an Apple Airport Extreme and a powered USB 2.0 hub.

I connected the laser printer and the 2 storage devices to the USB hub.  Then I connected the USB hub to the Airport Extreme via the USB port.  Here's how everything is connected.
